The Library aims to provide an environment conducive to study and reflection. In order for everyone to enjoy these benefits, all users are required to observe the following rules and regulations:

  • Users are expected to sign the register at the entrance gate under the respective category for the purpose of library statistics and also as an assurance from the members that they will use the library under the rules and ethics prescribed to them mainly to:Present a valid identification card to the security personnel/library staff on duty at the entrance.
  • The textbooks can be renewed once only for two weeks, i.e., a student can keep the textbook for a maximum period of four weeks and after that it cannot be renewed further. However it can be renewed, if there is no demand as on date.
  • Leave all bags, brief cases, laptop bags, equipment sleeves, parcels, etc at the Bag Check at the entrance.
  • In case a book is lost, the borrower should pay double the cost of the book if it is an Indian publication and four times the cost of the book, if it is a foreign publication and is liable for fine also.
  • Before borrowing and accepting the books, the borrower has to make sure that the books are in good condition.
  • Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.
  • Absence and illness are not acceptable excuses for exemption from paying overdue charges.
  • Users are required to submit their identity card while entering the various sections of the centre.
  • Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the library.
    Strict silence is enjoined inside the centre, as it is necessary for quiet study. Avoid loud talking, boisterous and disruptive behaviour.
  • Mobile phones, pagers and watch alarms should be switched off before entering the library..
  • Library books and documents must be treated with honour, so that it is prohibited to underline, write notes or pull out pages there from.
  • Documents lost, torn or damaged (tearing of pages, underlining, making notes, damaging of binding and the like) shall attract serious action including suspension of membership and/or replacement of documents concern. The lost/damaged document shall be replaced by the borrower with latest edition.
  • Members are not allowed to sub-lend the books borrowed from the library.
  • Periodicals are regarded as reference books and are not issued normally.
  •  Identity cards are not transferable and must be produced whenever requested by Library staff..
  • Books and journals are to be borrowed in person.
  • The newspaper(s) should be folded properly after reading and kept back in the designated place
  • Users are cautioned not to throw any litter in the centre.
  • Users are advised not to misplace books on the racks from their original position.
  • Production of ‘No Dues Certificate’ from the centre is essential for obtaining hall ticket to appear for year/ semester end examinations.
  • Loss of identity cards should be reported immediately to the librarian and duplicate card will be issued on payment.
  • Fine will be levied for late submission of books.
  • Web OPAC is also provided. The members can browse the database from anywhere in the campus.
  • The Library reserves the right to inspect all material leaving the Library including books and receptacles. 
  • Users of the Library who fail to observe these rules could have their library privileges suspended.
